Republicans Suck. Democrats Suck. Let's Talk Third Party
Don't fit in with D's or R's? You're not alone.
DEMOCRATS AND REPUBLICANS HAVE SOLD AMERICA OUT

Democrats and Republicans are servants but it’s not to the American people. Both of the dominant American political parties cater exclusively to big money and special interests and everyone knows it. The only political dispute is over who gets to most exploit the American people.
To the people it doesn’t matter whether Liz Cheney is owned by the military industrial complex or the Biden Crime family is owned by China. Either way we get taken for a ride.
Disillusioned supporters of President Trump, who I count myself among, are threatening to abandon the Republican party and form a new party. I’m game but if it’s going to be successful it’s going to take A LOT more than just filing some paperwork and running some candidates. We’ve got a real shot to do it but as the Libertarians or Greens can tell you, it’s easy to screw it up.
The Democrat and Republican parties have built-in institutional advantages that must be overcome in order to establish a serious third option. If you’re up for this kind of discussion please join Tyrant’s Curse as a free or paid subscriber.
WHAT IS A POLITICAL PARTY?
Britannica defines Political Party as “a group of persons organized to acquire and exercise political power.” What the Democrat and Republican parties have “organized to acquire and exercise political power,” is what any new party must understand and compete with.
To create a new party we must create the tools that are the function of Republicans and Democrats.
POLITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE
The most difficult obstacle in creating a new party will be creating the nuts and bolts infrastructure necessary to compete with the two ancient parties. That infrastructure includes:
Data on voters, donors, and volunteers
Brick and mortar venues and offices
Established rules and procedures for things like choosing party leadership and platform.
Media Access
Ballot Access
? (what else am I missing?)
Much of this infrastructure can be built without being a political party. I know because I’ve been busy building the data, donor, volunteer, and media infrastructure for more than a decade. If you haven’t yet this would be a great time to check out WHAT’S NEXT? WHAT CAN WE DO? FORMING THE TYRANT’S CURSE BATTLE PLAN
PLATFORM
A successful new party must offer a compelling platform. I’m of the opinion that the TOP of the platform MUST start with election integrity and process reform.
This is some of what I’d want to see in a new party platform:
Reform election laws to protect the integrity of every vote and prevent fraud
Reform the political process to take power away from donors and special interests and return it to ‘We The People’
Protect Freedom of Speech in the digital public square
Protect citizens from cancel culture by ensuring access to essential services
Ensure Consistent Protection of the 2nd Amendment nationally
Protect Religious Liberty by codifying Church as essential
Reform Government Appropriations and Spending
Overhaul Criminal and Civil Justice to end the lawyer extortion racket
Modernize Education
School Choice
Student Privacy
Parental Rights to monitor all curriculum and testing
.
This is hardly an exhaustive or complete list. What would you want to see in a new parties platform?
ARGUMENTS AGAINST GOING THIRD PARTY
The mechanisms exist to take over either of the established parties through political action and involvement
COUNTER: MANY Americans will never become Republicans OR Democrats because they both suck and have for a longtime. The tribalism also runs deep and while you might be able to convince a former Democrat to join a new party, convincing them to be a Republican will always be a bridge too far.
If Trump supporters (or previously the Tea Party) split the political right the Democrats will win everything
COUNTER: Republicans don’t deserve to remain in power simply because the Democrats are worse. Government has continued to get larger and more oppressive regardless of who is in power.
This is a serious concern and one that must be addressed to overcome the “fear of the opposition” mentality that has helped maintain two party dominance. I believe that this commonly held political belief is Here are some of the ways that the risk can mitigated:
A new party must draw from disenchanted Republicans AND Democrats AND people who have given up on politics entirely. This is why I think the branding of the “Patriot Party” is not ideal because I think it limits the outreach to people who didn’t previously identify as Republicans. To be clear I’m not advocating that Tyrant’s Curse as the brand for a new political party
A new party can focus on organizing in places that are already dominated by one party. Think California and New York where Democrats already have overwhelming control.
California and other states offer “jungle primaries” where general election candidates are selected regardless of political affiliation in “jungle primaries”. These “jungle primaries” give a new party the opportunity to fight it out in the primary without the risk of ceding a seat to the other tribe
WE WOULD HAVE TO START NOW
The 2022 midterms are the best opportunity our country has had to launch a new party but the work has to start now. Tyrant’s Curse is continuing to build the political infrastructure that a third party would need and participate in discussion and creation of a new political party. Please join us if you agree that Republicans and Democrats suck.
Stay prepared and be vigilant.

The two I's --- Integrity and Immigration. Laws are made to be obeyed and enforced. Why should we add to the behemoth that is our current government by piling on more laws when the current laws we have would work just fine -- if we would just enforce them? People at EVERY LEVEL AND POSITION need to understand that there is a price to be paid that will be REQUIRED -- NO EXCEPTIONS -- if they choose to flout our laws or take on themselves decisions that our laws say belong to someone else. Neglecting their responsibilities under our laws should be treated just as seriously -- no more sitting on the hands instead of doing what needs to be done.
As for immigration -- Trump had the right idea. A country without enforced borders is not a country anymore. This means people do not come into this country by flouting our laws -- NO EXCEPTIONS. Also, we do not grant Constitutional rights and protections to someone who is not an American citizen. Any American citizen who flouts these laws and principles -- no matter who they are or what position they hold -- should be tried and punished accordingly. This should be a CERTAINTY, and a quick certainty. No dodging! There should be no such thing as a sanctuary city, county, state, etc.
By extension, we should NOT be bringing in foreigners on any kind of work visa to do jobs offered by American employers. American jobs must go to American citizens -- NO EXCEPTIONS! If an employer truly cannot find an American citizen that has attributes desired to do the job, then American citizens can be trained to do these jobs (and I don't mean just school students or American citizens of a certain age bracket -- this is DISCRIMINATION!).
Special interests, lobbyists, and sweetheart deals done on the sly under the table should be treated as a CRIME. To be blunt, if you are running for elected office in this country to legally and honestly represent your constituents, and to serve them, them we welcome your service. If you are doing it for any other reason, please don't waste our time. If we suspect that you are not doing your job representing us to our satisfaction, please understand that YOU CAN BE RECALLED, and PROBABLY WILL BE.
As you can probably can tell by this lengthy post, I believe that there is a devastating lack of integrity and a lack of respect for our Constitution and our American citizens at all levels of our government. THIS MUST CHANGE!
Thank you for letting me speak my mind!
I wrote to Mitch McConnell, Kevin McCarthy and the Republican HQ's in DC and told them my husband and I have resigned from the Party, and we will not financially support or vote for a Republican again after their disgraceful treatment of President Trump. We are hoping that President Trump will form a Third Party. Most of the Elected Republicans stand for nothing, are owned by special interests and hold hearings that never go anywhere. They are cowards and doormats for the Commie-Democrats.
